Privacy Policy

Effective Date: April 7, 2026

This Privacy Policy explains how Proxy Setup ("we", "us", or "our") collects, uses, and protects information when you use our website (proxysetup.com) and the Proxy Setup Browser Extension.

Proxy Setup is a configuration and management utility. We do not operate proxy servers, provide network routing infrastructure, or process user browsing traffic.

1. Website Data Collection (Account & Billing)

When you create an account or manage a subscription on our website, we may collect the following information:

Account Information: Email address and encrypted password used to create and access your account.
Billing Information: Payments are processed through secure third-party payment processors. We do not store credit card numbers or financial account information on our servers.
Service Data: Basic information related to your subscription status, license activation, and account usage.

This information is used solely for account authentication, subscription management, and customer support.

2. Browser Extension Data Practices

This section applies specifically to the Proxy Setup Browser Extension and is provided in accordance with the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy.

A. Extension Permissions and Their Purpose

proxy and webRequest
Used solely to apply proxy configurations (IP address, port, username, password) that are manually entered by the user to the browser's networking layer.
<all_urls>
Required in order to apply proxy routing and privacy protections consistently across all websites accessed by the user.
storage
Used to store proxy profiles and extension preferences locally on the user's device.
privacy and browsingData
Used only to modify browser privacy settings when enabled by the user (for example, disabling WebRTC to prevent IP leaks).

B. Data Collection and Limited Use

The Proxy Setup extension does not collect, monitor, record, or transmit:

Browsing history
Visited websites
Network traffic or page content
Proxy credentials entered by the user
Personally identifiable browsing activity

All proxy credentials and configuration settings entered into the extension are stored locally on the user's device using Chrome's local storage or optional Chrome Sync functionality.

We do not sell, rent, transfer, or monetize user data.

C. License Verification

The extension may communicate with our servers for the limited purpose of verifying your account login or software license. This communication does not include browsing data, proxy traffic, or browsing activity.

3. Third-Party Proxy Providers

Proxy Setup does not operate or provide proxy servers. Any internet traffic routed through a proxy server is handled entirely by the third-party proxy provider selected and configured by the user.

Your use of those services is subject to the privacy policies and data practices of the respective proxy provider. We are not responsible for the privacy practices, data handling, or security policies of external proxy services that you choose.

4. Data Storage and Security

We implement reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect account data stored on our systems. Sensitive information such as passwords is stored using secure encryption and hashing methods.

Proxy credentials entered into the browser extension remain stored locally on the user's device and are not transmitted to our servers.

5. Data Retention

Account information is retained only for as long as necessary to maintain your account, provide services, and comply with legal obligations. Users may request deletion of their account data at any time.

6. Your Rights and Choices

You may:

Access or update your account information through the proxysetup.com dashboard
Request deletion of your account data
Remove the extension from your browser at any time

Uninstalling the extension removes locally stored configuration data associated with the extension.

7. Children's Privacy

Our services are not directed toward individuals under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

8. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time.
